Know the landed cost before you commit
Enter a few details about the vehicle and get an itemized estimate of Ghana import duty, VAT and levies — the same way we show pricing on every listing: honestly, and before shipping and clearing surprises you.
This is an estimate, not an official assessment. It's built from Ghana Revenue Authority's published duty, levy and VAT rates — it does not connect live to GRA's ICUMS customs system, which isn't publicly queryable outside a licensed clearing agent or importer login. Your vehicle's actual duty is set by GRA/Customs when it's formally assessed on ICUMS. Use this to plan your budget, then confirm the exact figure with us or via GRA's own vehicle importation guidance before you commit.

Rates used in this estimate
Verified against a real GRA Bill of Entry (used Honda CR-V, 1,500cc, CIF GH₵437,947.04) — every rate and base below reproduces that assessment's total duty & tax of GH₵166,633.07 exactly. Anything not covered by that one example (see notes) is still a placeholder.
- Depreciation: the manufacturer's original (new) price is depreciated by vehicle age to arrive at the FOB value used below — 5% (11–12 yrs), 20% (13–15 yrs), 50% (16–25 yrs), 70% (26–35 yrs), 100% (35+ yrs), 0% at 10 years or newer. Not verified — the reference bill has the vehicle's age redacted, and GRA's real Bill of Entry has no separate "overage" line at all (age effects are baked into GRA's own assessed Customs Value upstream, which this is only a stand-in for).
- CIF / Customs Value conversion: depreciated FOB + shipping & insurance = CIF (USD), converted to Ghana Cedis at your entered exchange rate before any duty, levy or tax below is computed. The exchange rate field is pre-filled each morning with the Bank of Ghana's published interbank mid-rate — you can still overwrite it if you have a more current or a different rate in mind.
- Import Duty: 10% up to 3,000cc — confirmed on the reference bill (1,500cc → 10%). Above 3,000cc (20%), pickups/commercial (flat 5%) and motorcycles (flat 20%) are unverified assumptions, not covered by that example.
- VAT (15%), NHIL (2.5%) and GETFund (2.5%): each computed independently on CIF + Import Duty — not cascaded into each other's base.
- Examination Fee and Withholding Tax on Import: 1% of CIF each (two separate charges) · ECOWAS Levy: 0.5% · AU Levy: 0.2% · EXIM Levy: 0.75% · Special Import Levy: 2% — all on CIF value. Withholding tax may not apply if you hold a GRA tax-exemption status.
- Network/ICUMS Charge: 0.4% of FOB alone (not full CIF) — plus VAT (15%), NHIL (2.5%) and GETFund (2.5%) on that charge itself.
- Other statutory fees: Vehicle Certification (GH₵0.50), Ghana Shippers Authority SNF Fee (GH₵12), GHS Disinfection Fee ($50, converted at your exchange rate) and MoTI e-IDF Fee (GH₵5) — flat charges, unrelated to CIF.
- Sources: a real GRA Customs Division Bill of Entry (Sep 2026), GRA — Vehicle Importation, and the Bank of Ghana's daily interbank FX rate for the exchange rate.
